Margaret “Peggy” Jean Coleman, born July 10,1931 in Mt. Willing, AL went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2023. She died peacefully at age 92 after a long and wonderful life filled with love, family and friends.
Peggy married her Auburn University sweetheart, Don Thomas, in 1952 and moved to Orlando in June of 1955 where she raised their five children. Most knew Peggy’s sweet demeanor, positive attitude and contagious smile from her days as a member of College Park Baptist and First Baptist Church of Orlando. She loved the Lord and loved others and it shone thru to everyone she en-countered. Her 24 years as a surgical scheduler for Dr. Taggart kept her busy before retiring and spending time with her grandchildren. Peggy’s trademark was her southern hospitality, opening their home to many. She was known for her pecan pie, homemade Parker house rolls and her ba-nana nut bread.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fannie Mae Goodwin and Coby C. Coleman; eight sib-lings, along with her husband of 70 years, Donald R. Thomas. Peggy is survived by their children: Don (Jan) Thomas, Jr. Altamonte Springs, FL; Keith (Lisa) Thomas, Orlando, FL ; Joy (Dr. Price) Kloess, Birmingham, AL ; Blake (Beth) Thomas, Daytona Beach, FL ; Scott (Suzanne) Thomas, Maitland, FL along with 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
