Obituary for Richard Norman Awsumb, Jr.
Richard Norman Awsumb Jr. was born to Richard Norman Sr. and Kathryn Gibson Awsumb in Memphis, TN. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was a life-long Sooners fan. Richard was a veteran of the U.S Navy Civil Engineer Corps. He loved his sweet and loyal Maltese, Chip. Richard spent his career as a talented architect. Richard kept Starbucks, Costco, and Amazon in business, and owned every gadget and tool ever created. Richard was an avid reader and loved listening to audiobooks. He was a huge Andrea Bocelli fan and was also partial to Harry Chapin & Neil Diamond. Richard was a long time member of the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. He truly enjoyed working with the artists. Richard was a loyal friend, husband, Dad, and G-daddy. He loved his wife of 50 years, Sherry. His children loved and adored his kind, gentle spirit. Richard lived a quiet life in the final years- rekindling his love for Jesus, and spending time with his brother, children & grandchildren. Richard is survived by his children and grandchildren: Kristin and Michael Coleman of Oviedo, Wendy and Josh Brown of Jupiter, and Brian “Scotty” Awsumb of Longwood; Noah Brown (14), Devin Coleman (12), Wyatt Brown (11), Braeden Coleman (9), and Kellen Coleman (9); He is preceded in death by his son, Bradley Charles. Donations may be made to either the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or St. Luke's Lutheran Church/The Haven Benevolent Fund, 2041 West State Road 426, Oviedo, FL 32765, in memory of Mr. Awsumb.

The interment at Palm Cemetery will be private, family only.
