Robert D. Gatton “Bob” of Winter Springs, Florida passed away peacefully at Advent Hospice Care on September 15, 2023, at the age of 75. He grew up in Burden, Kansas and moved with his family to St. Petersburg, Florida during his middle school. He enjoyed playing in the band at Dixie Hollins High school where he met his wife, Helen.
Bob and Helen Windmuller were high school sweethearts and then together attended the University of Florida where Bob received his doctorate in law. Bob served at Fort Eustis during the Vietnam War, and later went on to practice law in the Orlando area.
Bob’s many hobbies and interests included everything with his children and grandchildren, fishing, boating and vegetable gardening. At present, he has 24 fruit bearing trees in his yard.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen; his children Robert Gatton (Meghan), Julie Hoopper (Andrew) and his five grandchildren, Aiden, Isabella, Chase, Sienna and Ellie.
He will be greatly missed for his fatherly care, friendliness, wittiness, brilliance and love of dogs.
Visitation will be held at Banfield Funeral Home located at 420 West State Road 434 Winter Springs, FL 32708 on Friday, September 29th from 5-7 PM.
