Obituary for Robert Floyd Taylor
Central Florida resident Robert Floyd Taylor, 95, passed away on March 28, 2021 after a brief illness.

At his request, no service will be held.

Robert was born on October 15, 1925 in Norfolk, VA. He was the son of George W. and Ida L. Taylor. After graduating from Maury High school in 1943, he served in the U.S. NAVY during World War II as a quartermaster in the pacific theater aboard the LST 860. He was discharged in 1946 and attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute where he received a degree in structural engineering.

He married Ann McNeil in 1948 and began his career as a engineer with the J.G. Wilson company in South Norfolk, VA. The family relocated to Orlando in 1956 where he spent 32 years with the Florida steel corporation, where he eventually retired as a production and engineering manager.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Ann, daughters Dr. Sharon Taylor and Leigh Ann Burke, sons Rev. Donald Taylor and Val Taylor, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sons, Gary, Sean, and Michael.

It was his wish that these sentiments be passed on: “It’s been a wonderful life. I’ve been blessed with a perfect, loving wife, companion and helpmate, seven, almost perfect, loving children with wonderful spouses, grandkids, great-grandkids, and dear friends that are all part of our family. Thanks to all for sharing your lives with me. I’m looking forward to seeing each of you later. I’ll be standing on cloud 9 with Gary, Sean, Michael, and Paul… You can’t miss us.”
