Obituary for Robert Gerard Thibodeau

Robert (Bob) Gerard Thibodeau, 76, of Winter Springs, FL, passed away on August 13, 2024 after a heroic 4 year battle with cancer. He passed peacefully with his wife, Joy, by his side.

Bob was born on January 10, 1948 to Elinor & Gerard Thibodeau in Albany, NY. After Bob graduated from Guilderland High School, he went on to study Marketing at SUNY Albany.

After graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years which had him travel the world. Once he returned, he started his first corporate job at Coulter Electronics for 25 years.

In 1973, Bob met his forever girlfriend/wife, Joy (Ragotzkie) Thibodeau at Harold’s Office (Bar) in Albany, NY. It was love at first sight and in 4 months, Bob asked Joy to marry him. He handed her the ring and saying the now famous line of “Here…I don’t know how to give you this” and 8 months later on August 24, 1974 they were married. Bob and Joy went on to have 2 amazing children, Aimee & Daniel. They had an incredible 50 years together!

In 1999, Bob bought his own company called Imprinted Specialty Products. This opportunity allowed him to have his own schedule and hours so he could be a full time grandfather. After 20 years, Bob retired and spent his time traveling, biking and being with family & friends.

Bob was a devoted husband to his wife Joy, he was a loving father to his daughter Aimee & her husband Greg, and his son Danny & his wife Lindsey. Bob was a very proud grandfather to Tyler, Brayden, Channing & Charlotte who were the highlights of his life. Bob is also survived by his siblings, Diane (Fred Hogan), Ellen (Tom Barton), Karen (Burt Taaaffe), Mary Claire Thibodeau and his sister in law, Mary Thibodeau. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother John.

Bob's journey in life was driven by his faith in God and was marked by countless acts of kindness and leadership that left an incredible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3377 Aloma Avenue., Winter Park, FL 32792 on September 21st at 2:00pm and a reception will follow.

His burial will be held in Albany, NY at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 57 Hurlbut Street, Albany, NY 12209 on November 16th at 11:00am. Following the service, his burial will be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Cemetery and a reception will follow.
