Robert J. Ries, loving husband of Cora “Jan” Hanaman, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Jan, his devoted wife of 11 years and others were at his side comforting him as he joined those who passed before him.
Robert was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Ernst and Lillian Ries.
Robert graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in engineering. He dedicated 35 years to Abbott Laboratories and maintained an impeccable work ethic throughout his long and rewarding career.
Robert was a lifetime Christian. He was a member of the Lutheran church and attended St. Luke’s in Oviedo, Florida in the time preceding his death.
Robert led by example with his honesty and integrity. His greatest love was his family. He also loved boating, wood-working and traveling. Robert will be remembered for always taking the time to make others feel important and loved. He was truly one of a kind and will forever be remembered.
Robert, known as Granddaddy or Bob to many, loved his family and friends beyond measure. He was always generous with his time and had the most giving of hearts.
He is survived by his Wife, Cora Janet Hanaman; Daughter, Constance (Mark) Dentler; Grandchildren: Christopher (Maggie) Dentler, Courtney (Cody) Guined, Kyle Dentler, Morgan Dentler, and Drew Dentler; Great-Grandchildren: Dax, Ridge, Marlie Guined and Cohen and Teagan Dentler; his Step-son, Andy Rohall Jr., Grandchildren, Drew (Gina) Rohall, Mariah (Turman) Rohall, Lauren (Dan) Rogan and Christopher Ball; Great Grandchildren, Jada, Makenzy, Isaiah, Aoife, and Liam; Brother, Richard (Bonnie) Ries; Brother-in-Law Eugene (Janet) Lunog; loving aunt Lois Ruehle; and long-time friend Louisa Seijo. Bob will be remembered by many other family members who loved him dearly.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ann E. Ries (July 8, 2008); his step-son, David R Ball (May 8, 2020); and sister, Janet L. Lunog (May 30, 2023).
