Roy Robert Deschnow, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, 26 March 2026 at his home in
Winter Springs, FL.
A service is planned to be held at Mary Mother of God Chapel at San Pedro
Spiritual Development Center in Winter Park, FL on Saturday, 11 April 2026 at 12:30 pm.
Roy was born and raised in Stamford, CT on 1 September 1937. He grew up in Stamford and
eventually raised his family in Bethel, CT and Winter Springs, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathlyn Deschnow; four (4) children: Daniel R. Deschnow,
Keryn M. Hall, Gail A. Royero and Sandra J. Mascheri; daughter-in-law: Lori A. Deschnow; sonsin-law: David S. Hall, Robinson A. Royero and Michael A. Mascheri Jr.; seven (7) grandchildren:
Michael E. Kahle, Jr., Daniel J. Deschnow, Lauren A. Deschnow, Christina M. Myers, Melissa R.
Royero, John (Jack) R. Royero, and Brent A. Mascheri; and three (3) great grandchildren:
Mackenzie R. Kahle, Jacob P. Kahle, and Isla R. Deschnow.
Roy was predeceased by his parents: Arthur and Eva Deschnow, his brother: Arthur Deschnow
and sister: Dolores Topal.
After graduation from Saint Basil’s Preparatory School, in Stamford, CT, in 1955 he attended East
Coast Aero Tech in Bedford, MA. Upon his graduation in 1957, he started work at Sikorsky Aircraft
Corporation.
He married his high-school sweetheart on 05 July 1958 just prior to his enlistment in the Air
Force. After initial Boot Camp at Lackland AFB and technical training at Lowry AFB in Denver, CO,
and Orlando AFB in Orlando, FL, he served as a Missile Technician. During his service, he
deployed to Osan, South Korea for six (6) months.
After the completion of his military service in 1960, he joined the civilian workforce in the Central
Florida area. He worked for Simplex Time Recorder Company, Inc as a technician. In 1964, Roy
joined the Xerox Corporation. In 1967, Roy relocated his young family back to Connecticut to be
closer to family. In 1980, Roy transferred to a new position within Xerox, moving back to the
Orlando area. After more than 35 years of service at Xerox, he retired in 1999.
Throughout his life, Roy always worked to provide for and protect his family. In retirement, he was
able to devote more time to helping his children and grandchildren, and others in the community.
As founding members of St. Stephen Catholic Community in Winter Springs, FL, Roy and his wife,
Kathy, devoted numerous hours to the church over the years in a wide variety of ministries and
roles from counting weekly collections to working at various festivals.
