Obituary for Scott B. LaRocca
Scott Brogdon LaRocca passed away on May 20th, just 10 days shy of his 26th birthday. Scott was born in St Augustine Florida. His family moved to Oviedo, FL when Scott was 2 years old. After an undiagnosed life-threatening battle with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome which is seen mostly in athletes and hard for most doctors to detect, Scott at the age of 19 underwent 2 major separate surgeries. Each procedure required 6-months of recovery in bed on his back, and each procedure required him to be flown to Toledo, Ohio where one of only a few doctors in the country knew how to perform this life saving procedure. He saw the compassion, dedication, and determination of the doctors and medical staff that saved his life, which in turn motivated him. It was this event, “TOS”, that Scott began thoroughly researching and understanding what he was up against, and where he began to learn about Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Scott, while unable to do any physical activities, or leave the house for nearly two years, realized he wanted to dedicate the rest of his life saving and helping others. During this time, he studied 24/7 learning about the human body. It was at this time that he decided he wanted to devote his life in helping others and become a paramedic.

Scott attended Oviedo High School where he played football for the Oviedo Lions, and met his closest friends during those years.

Scott is survived by his parents Chris and Kim LaRocca of Oviedo and his brother, Hunter LaRocca of Orlando. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Jim and Judy Hunt and his paternal grandparents, Phillip Anthony LaRocca (deceased), and Peggy LaRocca. He also leaves behind his Aunt Syd, who loved him dearly along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Scott’s friends are all planning a celebration of life (date to be determined) where all are welcome. It is at that time we will celebrate what a wonderful life Scott had.

Funeral arrangements are being handled at Banfield Funeral Home in Winter Springs for immediate family.
