Shane Ryan French Obituary
On Friday, September 6, 2019 Shane Ryan French was called to heaven at the age of 30. Shane passed away from injuries he sustained in a devastating car accident on U.S. Highway 17-92 in Longwood, Florida. He was an amazing, caring, courageous, charismatic son, brother, uncle, nephew, fiancé, and friend and is loved and will be missed dearly.
Shane was born in St. Augustine, Florida on May 25, 1989. He was the eldest son of Sandra Faye Taylor and the only son of Shawn Andrew O’Neil. Shane grew up with his mother and two siblings (Stephanie and Cody) in a few places around central Florida. He lived in Longwood, Winter Garden, and Winter Springs; where he was settled since 1999. In this home, he had a few animals growing up but there were two dogs that captured his heart, Sadie and Reeses.
Shane was a very active person, and he very much enjoyed outdoor activities. As a young boy he played baseball. He was very good at it and so fond of the memories that he would talk about them frequently. Another activity he started when he was younger was bicycle riding. He was into BMX and would do tricks and stunts to impress his friends. If you saw him in the neighborhood, it was very likely that he was on his bike. As he got older his hobbies expanded to working on cars and trucks, mudding, 4-wheeling, motorcycle riding, RC cars, go karts, and going to the shooting range. Shane was always busy doing something and more likely to be interested in it if it had an engine. During his down time he also enjoyed playing video games like CSR, War Robots, and Call of Duty; which he was very proud of his global ranking. He also enjoyed helping his friends and family; he cared a lot about many people and was protective of them.
Shane was a hard-working, hands on type of man; because of this he had work expertise in many fields. He would humbly say “Jack of all trades, master of none” but there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. If you needed something to be fixed, he could do it. He has done auto mechanic work, pressure washing, fire sprinklers, painting, lawn care, post construction cleaning, window cleaning, automobile locksmithing, and pool enclosure screening. He had recently got hired at AAA but unfortunately was unable to start his first day. He used his vast knowledge and skills from work experience to help all of his friends and family who needed it. His help didn’t just reach only to those he knew; he would also help a stranded driver on the side of the road.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Phyllis Marcum, his father figure, Thomas Orona, and his step father Robert Taylor. He is survived by his mother Sandra Taylor, his sister Stephanie Faulkner and her kids (Makayla Medina and Kyler Vasquez), his brother Cody Taylor, his beloved Sarah Williams and her mother Kristin, his uncle and aunt Randy and Patti French, his cousins: Randy Jr, Ricky, and Christopher French, and Brittany Mann, his father Shawn O’Neil, his sisters Shannon Nappila, Brittany Oja, and Alyssa and Ashley O’Neil, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service for Shane French will be held on Saturday, September 21st , 2019 at Banfield Funeral Home & Crematory from 10am to 4pm. Pastor Jeff Smith will be giving a short service at 11am. The address for the service is:
