Shirley Mae Beavers, 84, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Crossville, TN on July 13, 1939, to Arthur and Lillie Mae Turner. She grew up splitting her time between Dayton, Ohio and Crossville until the family moved to Orlando, FL in the 1950’s. She married M. Hugh Beavers in 1958.
Shirley was known for her fun-loving antics that would keep everyone around in stitches. She was equally known for her sharp wit and colorful “hillbilly” sayings only she could come up with to describe an individual or situation. However, she was best known for being a loving wife, mother, granny, and great grandmother not only to her immediate family but to her extended family and friends in the community where she lived for close to 70 years. She was a role model because of her work ethic, quiet compassion, and moral values.
Shirley was proceeded in death by her parents Arthur and Lillie Mae Turner, her brother, James Turner, her grandson, Matthew Moran, and her husband, Hugh Beavers.
She is survived by her sons David “Rusty” Beavers and Michael (Tracy) her grandchildren Brittany “Boo Bear” Beavers and Michael A. “Handsome Man” (Jackie) Beavers, her great grandchild, Tyler J. Beavers, her sister Wilma Hunter, sister-in-law Linda Hassan and numerous nieces, nephews, extend family members and friends.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 6pm to 9pm, at the Oviedo Cultural Center, 357 Center Lake Lane, Oviedo, FL 32765. On Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 2pm Shirley will be laid to rest at Pomona Cemetery next to 378 Pow Camp Road, Crossville, TN 38572.
