Obituary for Susan L. Rambeau

Susan L. Rambeau, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Winter Springs, Florida, with her family by her side. Susan’s sweet nature and personality brought joy to everyone she encountered throughout her life.

Susan was born on April 23, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in Glen Cove, New York. Susan graduated from Glen Cove High School. She worked as a reservations agent for Pan Am airlines and was a lifeguard at the local pool. Susan met Edward after a King’s Point football game in 1966. She married Edward on March 23, 1968. They lived in Friendswood, Texas, where they had their daughter, Jennifer. Susan and Edward moved to Winter Springs, Florida, in 1988, when Edward’s job moved them.

Susan worked as an EMT and a paramedic on an ambulance in Clear Lake, Texas. Susan graduated from Alvin Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing. Susan worked in various capacities as a registered nurse before becoming a home care nurse. Susan worked as a home care supervisor for several years until she was forced to retire after an injury sustained on the job.

During her retirement, Susan enjoyed traveling and going on Alaskan cruises. Her dream was to move to Alaska one day. She was an avid reader and scrapbooker. Susan enjoyed making memories with her triplet grandchildren, taking an interest in each one’s individual interests. Susan became knowledgeable about autism when Johanna was diagnosed and helped advocate for her needs and services. Susan developed a strong interest in pit bulls and hummingbirds. Susan and Edward were active members of St. Stephen Catholic Church. They helped raise their triplet grandchildren, Abigail, Johanna and Caleb with love and compassion.

Susan is survived by her husband, Edward Rambeau of 58 years; daughter, Jennifer Fisher; stepbrother, Ernest A. Simpson III (Martha) of East Haverhill, MA; stepsister, Bobbi Berns of Rochester, NY; triplet grandchildren, Abigail, Johanna and Caleb Fisher; and other family members.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lockley McEntee and Jules (Judy) Boykin Simpson; step-father, Ernest A. Simpson, Jr.; brother, Arthur John McEntee; and grandson, Hayden Austin Fisher.

Susan’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Vitas Healthcare and their staff for their genuine care for her.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make a donation to an autism awareness organization in memory of Susan Rambeau. (e.g., Autism Speaks, Autism Society of Greater Orlando).

A Celebration of Susan’s Life will be determined and held at a later date.
