Obituary for Vanessa Richmond Bateman
Vanessa Richmond Bateman, age 55, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Advent Health Orlando Hospital with her husband, Norman, her one true love and soulmate by her side. Vanessa and Norman have two sons Paul (19) and Preston (13) who loved their mom beyond words.
Born July 27, 1963 in Pulaski, Virginia, Vanessa was the middle child of three girls born to the late Dwight Richmond and Peggy Willis Johnson. Tonya, Vanessa, and Heather were raised both in Virginia and later in Mississippi. Vanessa graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1981.
Vanessa took on the adventure of moving to Central Florida at the age of 18, where she made many close friends. This is also where she met the love of her life, Norman. Both Vanessa and Norman worked together in the lighting industry for twenty years before starting their own business in 2014, named after one of her beloved pets, Truly, who she has now joined in heaven.
She was an avid reader, loved walking on the beach, listening to her oldest son’s musical performances, watching her youngest son’s baseball games, and spending quality time at home with her family.
Vanessa was known to her friends and family as a sweet, gentle, selfless woman who would be the healing hands to those she came close to, just by her kind and calming words of wisdom.
Vanessa is also survived by brothers, Edward, Samuel and Andrew; step-mother, Carla; Uncle Terry and Aunt Lynn; mother-n-law, Miss Mary; sister-n-law, Debbie; three brothers-n-law Sam Snuffer, Dan Safewright and Dr. James Kazakis; several nieces and nephews; two best friends, Mary Beth and Amy, and countless other close friends and co-workers who have been so supportive through this unexpected loss.
The memorial and celebration of life service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Banfield Funeral Home & Crematory 420 W. State Road 434 Winter Springs, FL 32708. The service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a precession immediately following for all who would like to attend at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 5525 US Highway 1 Mims, FL 32754.
