Obituary for Wayne L. Nethers
Wayne L. Nethers passed away on November 25, 2018, in Oviedo FL, at the age of 93. He was born September 26, 1925, on his family farm in Wakatomika OH. He was the third child of Ward and Leila Nethers. He was married to Mary Ann (Clark) for 67 years. They have five children: Patricia Siggers, Larry Nethers(Mary Lou), Greg Nethers (Wanda), Tim Nethers (Bev) and Terri Rollins (Kent); six grandchildren Kelly Siggers Broadaway (James), Brittany Nethers, Kevin Nethers, Tim Nethers (Paige), Clark Rollins and Anna Rollins and five great-grandchildren: Luke, Nathan, Samuel, Briana and Jacob.

Wayne enlisted in the Army during World War II, served in the Pacific theater and in the post-war occupation of Japan. After service, he attended Ohio State University. He worked with his brother, Ken Nethers, for several years at Haven Appliances in Winter Haven until he opened Ridge Appliances in Haines City in 1968, which remained open until Wayne retired in 2004.

Wayne was Exalted Ruler of the Winter Haven Elks club in the mid 1960’s. He loved to golf, dance, play cards and spend time with his family. Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Ken. In addition to his family, he is survived by his sister, Ruth Weese, and brother, Carl Nethers.

A private memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Banfield Funeral Home in Winter Springs FL. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to VITAS Healthcare, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland FL 32751, noting that it is in memory of Wayne Nethers. A military service will be scheduled at a later date.
