William (Bill) Charles Martin
September 10, 1941 – May 24, 2022
Bill was born in Canton, Ohio.
He lived in Massillon, Ohio until the untimely death of his father.
He, his mother, and four sisters moved to Orlando in 1951.
Bill graduated from Colonial High School in 1960.
In December 1960 he joined the Air Force, spent six months in Texas and was transferred to Germany for three years.
He was trained as a jet mechanic. He took several college courses (by mail) for auto mechanics.
After getting out of the Air Force, he returned to Orlando in 1964, where he started working for
the Orlando Sentinel.
Married Roy Anne in December 1964. Retired after forty-two years.
Bill has been a member of Prince of Peace since 1967. He served as an Usher for fifty years, on the Building Committee for two years and he helped with funeral receptions for twenty-five years. He was a square dancer for thirty years, and a talented crafter, making lighted Christmas trees, crosses, golf ball dogs and many other things.
Bill is survived by his wife, Roy Anne, three children, Toni Raye, Jill, James John, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His brother Maurice Carlson, Texas, and sister Liz Ogren, Washington State.
