Obituary for Douglas R. Van Schaack
Douglas R. Van Schaack of Winter Springs, Florida passed away on March 10, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born in Syracuse, NY on February 10, 1934 to Charles and Evelyn Van Schaack. Doug was a caring and loving family man. He graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Transportation Management and worked for over 40 years at CSX Railroad. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and playing the piano was one of his favorite pastimes. Doug was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Mary Alice Dixon Van Schaack; his sister Joan Van Schaack Bishop and his granddaughter Natalie Jeanne Van Schaack. He is survived by his children Mark Van Schaack (Suzanne), Marcia Washington, Susan Siskowski, Eileen Van Schaack, Sandra Benante; his sister Sharon Bishop; his 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Doug will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vitas Healthcare, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland, FL 32751 or your local food bank. As per Doug’s request, services will be private.
