Obituary for Judith R. Brassard
Judith “Judy’ Brassard is finally at peace after a long battle with mitochondrial disease. She died on September 24, 2021 with her husband and family by her side. Judy was 74 years old.

Born on November 24, 1946 in Reading, Pennsylvania, Judy was the only daughter of Samuel & Claire Chernoff. After graduating high school, her plans led her to Washington D.C. where she met her future husband, Andy, whom she married in 1967.

Judy and Andy shared 54 years of marriage that brought many adventures taking them across the country and back, living in many places including, Pennsylvania, Texas, Massachusetts and eventually Florida.

Judy loved the warm weather and would always seek out time to sit in the sun and read a book with a cup of coffee. She had a long career as an accountant/bookkeeper. When Judy and Andy’s oldest child was born with Down Syndrome, Judy became an advocate for Christopher and volunteered for many organizations benefitting the developmentally disabled. Judy loved being a grandmother and enjoyed attending many of her grandchildren’s events over the years. She loved all animals, especially her cats.

Judy is survived by her husband, Andy, her daughter, Anne-Marie Hayward and her husband Jeff, and her three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Victoria and Abigail. She is predeceased by her son, Christopher, who died in 2009.

Instead of a traditional service, Judy would have wanted people to celebrate and laugh. In honor of that, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Judy on October 9, 2021 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the home of Jeff & Anne-Marie Hayward, 111 Lillie Pond Point, Chuluota, FL. All friends and family are welcome to attend this outdoor event to tell your favorite Judy story and toast her life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Judy’s honor to Mitoaction.org.
