Obituary for Mildred "Millie" Melendez
Mildred Haydee Melendez, lovingly known as Millie, was born October 27, 1949 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Luz and Miguel Loyola. A proud wife to Mike and mother to Liana, Alain, and Julian. She was happily married for 46 years and lived in the home they built in 1984 in Winter Springs, FL. She joined the Lord at age 73 peacefully at her home on May 19, 2023 after a courageous 20 year battle with Parkinson’s.
She graduated from Hunter College and earned her Master of Education from Lehman College in New York City. She was a dedicated Spanish and English teacher and was awarded Teacher of the Year for Seminole County in 1997 for her hard work and commitment to her profession.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Mike, two sons Alain (wife Dahiana), and Julian (wife Jennifer), and granddaughter Luna Luz. She is also survived by 5 siblings, and was a proud Titi Millie to countless nieces and nephews.
What she loved and cherished the most was to spend time with her family. Arby’s sandwiches and Chick-fil-a chicken nuggies were her guilty pleasures, but she also enjoyed cooking her family’s favorite dishes. She loved music and you could catch her dancing along to all the great songs.
Millie would light up a room with her infectious smile and caring spirit. She will always be remembered for her calm and loving demeanor, and ability to make you feel how truly special you are.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, May 24, from 6-8pm with a prayer vigil at 7pm at Banfield Funeral Home - 420 West State Road 434 Winter Springs, FL 32708.
Mass will be Thursday, May 25, at 1:30pm at St Stephen Church - 575 Tuskawilla Rd Winter Springs, FL 32708.
The interment will be at All Faith's Memorial 1390 Park Dr Casselberry, FL 32707. After the interment, family and friends will gather at Julian and Jen's house - 685 N Endeavour Dr Winter Springs, FL 32708.
