Obituary for Herbert R. Johnson, Jr.
Herbert Richard Johnson Jr., 73, was born June 19th 1951 and died March 28th 2025. He was the son of Velma Marie and Herbert Richard Johnson Sr. (deceased). The oldest of ten children: Shenita, Charles (Venita), Linnae, Arthur (Valerie), Ronald (survived by June), Carl (Sandi), Linda, Rueben (Tina) and Alvin (Latachia). Husband to his college sweetheart Ella Jean Johnson. Father of Marcus Johnson, Nathan Johnson, LaToya Johnson Defils (Joey).
If you can do anything you put your mind to was a person, it was Herb. He had a high standard for excellence. He was always studying the best so he could be the best. Therefore, he excelled at many things; cooking, videography, social work, counselling, playing the saxophone, running track, drawing and the list goes on.
In addition to all these talents and things Herbert loved to do, he fearfully and lovingly served the Lord. There’s no doubt that Herb joins Jesus and the great crowd of witnesses cheering us on. His legacy will live on through his beloved family including his nieces, nephews and grandchildren: Indira Johnson, Liam and Zoe Defiils.
Herb’s life made an impact on so many, some who aren’t mentioned or we’ll never know. Herbert Richard Johnson Jr. is deeply missed and will be forever loved. His life was celebrated in Deltona, Florida where he resided but he will also be memorialized on May 3, 2025 at 11am at the Bethlehem Temple of Praise in Wayne, Michigan.
