On 13 April 2025, Jesus, our Lord and Savior reached out to Dustin D Lucas and welcomed
him into his loving arms. Our faith comforts us and provides strength at this time of trial and
suffering, yet the overwhelming grief of loss remains.
Dustin was born 22 November 1976, at the Winter Park Hospital, Winter Park, Florida to James
(Jim) Lucas and Janice (Jan) Moore Lucas. He grew up with a bonding love of family and an
appreciation of loyal friends. While attending Lyman High School he became known for his fun
loving spirit. Nothing pleased him more than the “gotcha” moment of one of his pranks.
After graduating he held a variety of jobs before going to work with his parents & brother in site
development. It was there that he discovered his interest in land acquisition & left the family
business to devote full time to managing JEL Land Development.
Dustin loved whole heartedly & he had a generous spirit for helping those in need. So it was no
surprise when approximately six years ago he, Candi & Leah decided to support Florida’s
Foster Parent Program. They opened their hearts & their home to their daughter Kayli.
“Nothing is more rewarding than loving a child & providing a way to a better life.”
May Leah & Kayli always remember, “A father’s love is a love without end. Amen!”
Dustin moved multiple times but all within a 30 mile radius of where he was born. Central
Florida was home. He travelled with family to New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, etc but only
for vacations. He loved to come home. Dustin enjoyed going to concerts—music from rap &
heavy metal to rock & country. Again he loved listening in the comfort of his home. He went to
sporting events but was thankful he could watch them at home. He was a self declared
“homebody!” His heart, his comfort, his pleasure, his total happiness was being at home with
his soulmate Candi, his angel Leah, his baby Kayli & his dog Mac. There was nothing better
than enjoying movie night, pizza night or relaxing by the pool watching his girls play. He was a
very proud & dedicated father.
You left us way too quickly & way too soon Dustin. We miss your engaging smile, infectious
laugh, warm caring heart—YOU. But you are in a far better place with your Heavenly Father.
Dustin, you are home!
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or
crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
